Université de Montréal
Biosecurity, simple actions, great results
Origins of the chair
The creation of the Chair in biosecurity of dairy production is the result of concerted action by Novalait, Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Montreal. It was created with funding from the Agri-Food Innovation Partnership Program, under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, an agreement between the governments of Canada and Quebec. The Chair's research program is also funded by a CRSNG-Alliance grant. Various partners have added their expertise, including Lactanet, the Association of Veterinary Practitioners of Quebec (AMVPQ) and DSAHR.
Our mission
Biosecurity measures are the first line of defense to prevent the entry and spread of many diseases on dairy farms. Our mission is to help dairy producers prevent and control infectious diseases in order to limit the associated economic losses and reduce the negative impact of these diseases on animal health, public health and the environment. The chair of biosecurity in dairy production supports producers through research and innovation, the training of a highly qualified workforce and the transfer of technology and knowledge.
